A visit with Pete DeSouza
I had the chance to visit Pete DeSouza today at the hospital. It was just before he was moved into the National Rehabilitation Hospital where he will begin the physical therapy that will bring him back to "playing form". I had a chance to let him know that lots of people are thinking about him. He expressed his appreciation for all the good wishes. He also commented on the Wake game crediting all players, first through third team, for their great effort. Said he had a tear in his eye when he realized that we are bowl eligible.

2010 MGN Lettermen and MGN Gold Homecoming Reception
An intimate gathering of MGN Gold members and some of our lettermen from many different eras!
We enjoyed hearing from Chet (the Jet) Hanulak, Paul Vellano, Frank Romano, Bob Avellini, Kevin Benson, Stan Glebaugh, Sam Hollenbach, Kendall Ogle, Marlin VanHorn, and Ziz. Also in the house were Dan Ennis, John Langton, and Mark Sobel.
Mike Lynn and Larry Grabenstein ran the program which was made very special by hearing from several of the former players who spoke at Larry's urging about their experiences. Mike and Larry did a Q and A about the current team.
The players, their families and the MGN Gold members who could make the event experienced an evening to remember!!

Great Comraderie at the 2010 Decades Reunion
Friday, September 10th, TERPS football lettermen from different eras mingled and shared stories (lies!!) about their times at Maryland. The feeling of comraderie was all around and enjoyed by those who came. We look forward to enjoying this reunion annually and hope more lettermen will take advantage of this great time.

Fan Day - August 2010
Saturday, August 14th, the TERPS hosted a Fan Appreciation Day. The public was invited to watch practice and then meet the players when they could take photos and get autographs. Interim Athletic Director, Randy Eaton, and Coach Friedgen fielded questions from the audience. A fun day, indeed!

2010 Terps Freshman Class Checks In
The Gosett Team House was filled with our newest Terps and some of their families to set off the 2010 season. It was great to see the families with their young men and preparing them for the start of their college career. After dinner Ralph introduced the coaching staff and support personnel. Then each player came up and gave their name, position, school and introduced the family members that were present. Then families said their good-byes and their Terp life is on!!!
Go TERPS!!!

MGN Kickoff for 2010 Season
Last week Sonoma's Bar and Grill hosted a season kickoff event with many fans present to hear the coaches, ask questions and meet other Terp fans. We repeated the event at Gossett this week and all enjoyed a fun and informative event. After some time for folks to move through the complex they convened in the Terps auditorium and heard from Larry Grabenstein, our MGN Chairman, followed by Ralph, then James and Don. James and Don highlighted their side of the ball and some players on some video footage. A Q & A session followed and then all moved to the dining room for some goodies supplied by Looney's.
2010 Gossett Staff Party at Nick's Riverside Grill
The Gossett Staff including coaches, GAs, Interns, Trainers, Assistants, Academic Support, etc., enjoyed a lovely evening at the Washington Harbor hosted by Nick Cibel of Nick's Riverside Grill. The food and the fellowship were wonderful! The highlight of the evening was a "quiz" given by the GAs to the guests. They had collected notable (funny) quotes from the various meetings and the those present had to take the quiz to guess who said them. The winner was Jemal Griffin and the quote most loved by the group was the one by David Sollazzo in reference to a recuiting trip in Florida - "There was an alligator in the street. No kidding. I swear it was a dinosaur - at least five feet off the ground!!!" A couple of others: "He has 13 offers, but only 17 are legit" and "You're gonna have to decide this summer, you want to get tattoos or do you want to eat?!?" It was a very good time!!
MGN Sponsor Dinner
As you know the MGN is truly the backbone of support for the Terps Football program. We are very appreciative of all our members and thank them for their support. Another group of people who help out significantly are our sponsors. We recently enjoyed a sponsor dinner at the home of Dr. Erik and Joyce Young. Good friends, good food and good times...
